What are the health benefits of juicing?

Juicing offers many life-enhancing health benefits including a faster, more efficient way to absorb immune boosting nutrients naturally found in fruits and vegetables. Juicing provides access to digestive enzymes typically locked away in the fiber matrix of whole fruits and vegetables.

Most commercial juices are processed (often with additives like cane syrup, corn syrup or water) and lacking in nutrition (vital nutrients are neutralized through irradiation and pasteurization) while freshly juiced fruits and vegetables are loaded with an abundance of vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients that are easily absorbed in your body and put to immediate use.

Drinking fresh juice can help most of us adopt healthier eating patterns. For those who do not traditionally consume many fruits and vegetables, incorporating fresh juice can be a fun and different approach to increasing consumption of these important plant foods for improved health and wellness and for reaching your fitness and weight loss goals.

How does it work? Juicing removes the insoluble fiber from vegetables and fruits. While fiber is an established, important part of a well-balanced, long-term healthy diet, removing the insoluble fiber periodically or temporarily allows for increased absorption of specific health promoting phytonutrients including enzymes. By removing the fiber and consuming fruits and vegetables in liquid form, we are providing a nutrient delivery system to our bodies that allows people who would otherwise have difficulty consuming whole vegetables or fruit, the opportunity to reap the numerous benefits these food products have to offer.

We are huge fans of juicing. We think it is a fantastic way to consume the valuable vitamins, minerals and living enzymes found in fruits and vegetables while catering to a busy on-the-go lifestyle. Everything you need to enhance your health and performance is super-concentrated into a 16 oz. container that you can take with you wherever your day takes you. Raw juice is not processed in any way. back to top

What are phytonutrients and what do they do?

Plant foods contain thousands of natural chemicals. These are called phytonutrients or phytochemicals. These chemicals help protect plants from germs, fungi, bugs, and other threats. Fruits and vegetables (as well as other plant-based foods such as whole grains, nuts, beans and tea) contain phytonutrients. While phytonutrients aren’t essential for keeping you alive (like the vitamins and minerals that plant foods contain) they are attributed with helping to prevent disease and keep your body working properly. back to top

What do you mean – your juice is raw

Raw juice means that none of the produce used in our products have been cooked or subjected to any preservation processes like irradiation, pasteurization or other means of sterilization. back to top

What do you mean – your juice is cold-pressed?

A cold-pressed juice is one that is created by pressing freshly masticated fruits and vegetables in a fine mesh bag using hydraulic plates. This method extracts liquids from plant matter slowly and gently without denaturing valuable enzymes or breaking down nutrients with high levels of heat or oxygen. Click here for more information

What do you mean – your juice is hand-crafted?

Hand-crafted means to make or fashion by hand. This is the case with our products. We process no more than 5 portions of juice at a time. Each batch is tasted for flavor and the correct balance of ingredients before being packaged for delivery to you. back to top

What do you mean – your juice is batch-processed?

We process no more than 5 portions of juice at a time. This constitutes a batch. Each batch is tasted for flavor and the correct balance of ingredients before being packaged for delivery to you. back to top

What do you mean – your juice is made-to-order?

In order to keep costs down and your juices as fresh as possible, we batch process our juices to order. We do not keep an inventory of pre-made juices in stock. This means we will never deliver to you a juice that has been sitting around in our refrigerator past its best date. back to top

How much produce is in each 16 ounce juice you sell?

How much produce is in each 16 ounce juice you sell? Each 16 ounce container of our juice contains approximately 2 lbs. of produce. No water added. back to top

Do you produce juice everyday?

You can get your juice any day of the week except Sunday, but if you are a freshness fanatic please pay special attention to our production dates. We produce our fresh, raw, cold-pressed juices and other products on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. While our juices maintain nutritive value for 72 hours, they are just off the press on Monday mornings, Wednesday mornings and Friday mornings. If you are placing an order for multiple day’s worth of juice keep this schedule and our 72 hour product shelf-life in mind. back to top

How long does your juice last?

Our juices are alive, and are not artificially preserved in any way. This means that they must be kept refrigerated. We strongly recommend drinking them as soon as possible. They are best consumed within 72 hours of pick-up. After that they will still taste great, but their nutrient value and color will suffer. back to top

Isn’t juice full of sugar? Isn’t this bad for you?

Isn’t juice full of sugar? Isn’t this bad for you? This is true of many of the processed juices you will find at the grocery store. These products often lack the natural goodness of the fruit and vegetables advertised on their labels, but they retain all of the sugar. Not only that, they add extra processed and refined sugars on top. Our juices are fresh, raw juiced vegetables. Nothing is added. No nutrients are taken away. The naturally occurring sugars in our juices are accompanied by critical live enzymes, vitamins and trace minerals that are essential to good health – the same nutrients you would get from eating the fruits or vegetables raw. These nutrients offer you more than a fleeting sugar rush. back to top

Can your juices be used to replace meals?

We like to think of our juices as “vitamin infusions”. We think you should drink one whenever you feel the need – instead of your second coffee of the day or in place of a sweet snack that you might normally reach for in the mid-afternoon. Having said that, the answer to this question depends a great deal on the individual. Some people will find that a nutrient-dense juice or nut milk makes for a filling and convenient occasional substitute for a more substantial breakfast, lunch or dinner. Either way, integrating juices into your daily routine will help to keep you healthy, balanced and energized. We do not advocate replacing food with juice altogether. There is no substitute for great, healthy food. But if you’re looking to detoxify, break bad habits, re-set your taste buds or jump start your fitness routine with a little encouragement from your bathroom scale, you might opt for one of our 1 day, 3 day or 5 day juice bundles. back to top

Are your juices 100% organic?

Because we hand-craft our juices in small batches for a very small market, it would be cost-prohibitive for us to use 100% organic ingredients. However, we organically source any ingredient that is listed on the EWG’s Dirty Dozen list (http://www.ewg.org/foodnews/list.php#). For you this means that all of our apples, cucumbers, kale, peppers, and romaine lettuce are sourced organic. The remainder of our produce is sourced conventionally. back to top

Is juice a hydrator?

Yes and no. While water is a natural component of many fruits and vegetables, it is very important to drink plenty of water in addition to our juices. This is especially true if you choose to use our products to do a cleanse. It is very important to stay hydrated during a cleanse. Make sure you drink the daily recommended amount of water for your age, gender, weight and climate. back to top

Your juice is expensive, why?

Our juices are priced competitively in comparison with other fresh, raw juices. Our juices have no water added, contain no juice from concentrate and are juiced fresh every day. We bottle our juices in glass and we never artificially extend their shelf life with pasteurization or other high heat preservation processes. back to top

Can I use your products to cleanse? If so, how should I do so?

The specific ingredients of each of our drinks is not arbitrary. They are each selected based on their health benefits and attributes. The different ingredients perform different functions at different times of the day. However, you shouldn’t feel boxed in by the order of the juices. Do what comes naturally and what feels right for your body. Our Chef would recommend that any cleanse include at least one Morning Glory, a Green Giant and a Beetox. The fourth juice option is up to your tastes. Any cleanse will require at least one protein milk and will include an Electro-lite Me drink. back to top

Why cleanse?

For those who advocate cleansing, the belief is that cleansing is a way of clearing the toxic clutter from your system and pressing the reset button – kind of like rebooting your computer. Even if you’re already careful to avoid processed foods and drinks, stress and pollution can wreak havoc on your system, clouding both your body and your mind. A cleanse can help you flush out the toxins that build up inside you over time. Done properly, this can improve your digestion and charge you with renewed (and renewable) energy. It can also help you take stock of your current nutritional habits, and determine where there is room for improvement. You should emerge from your cleanse clear-headed, light on your feet, and with a new spring in your step. back to top

Can anyone cleanse?

We must emphasize that we are not medical professionals. We do not offer medical advice of any kind, nor do we offer medically supervised cleanses. If you have a medical condition or are on prescription medication, we strongly advise that you consult your doctor before considering a cleanse. We do not recommend cleansing if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or under 18 years of age. Beyond that, the decision to cleanse or not to cleanse is a personal one. Listen to your body, and do what feels right for you. back to top

Should I drink alcohol during a cleanse?

Should I drink caffeine during a cleanse?

Not if it can be avoided.

Should I smoke during a cleanse?

Can I eat real food during a cleanse?

If you want to experience all the benefits of a true cleanse then you should not eat any solid food during your cleanse. If you are juicing recreationally, try to stick to a healthy, well-balanced diet. There are many compromises in between. Do what feels right to you if you are not on a strict cleanse. back to top

What does it mean when I order a bundle or cleanse package and I choose “Chef’s Choice”?

Chef’s Choice means that the Chef will select the variety of juices to include in your bundle. This leaves you free from wasting valuable time over-thinking your juice subscription or cleanse. back to top

What is filtered water?

Our juices do not contain any added water. However, our nut milks and puddings do. The water we use is carbon filtered to remove any harmful chemicals. back to top

What should I do with my glass bottles?

You should recycle, repurpose, reuse. You can either do this on your own or you can register with us for our Returns Program and we will send you a Returns Program tracking ticket. You will then need to return your RINSED bottles (without lids) to us when you pick-up your next order and make sure that your Returns Program tracking ticket is punched for the items you return. For every 20 jars you return to us, we will give you a free juice, nut milk or pudding. If we forget, remind us! back to top

You should rinse your bottles at home and return them to us when you pick-up your next order. back to top
